The Luther Museum Amsterdam, in collaboration with m.simons gallery, presents the sculpture exhibition APPLE TREE. Especially for Amsterdam Art Week, the museum will open its walled garden to the public on Friday 23 May between 17:00 and 19:00 on the Nieuwe Keizersgracht.
The exhibition is curated, and features works by Hadrien Gérenton and Tim Mathijsen, complemented by sculptures from invited artists with a connection to Amsterdam: Danai Anesiadou, Brianna Leatherbury, Victor Santamarina and Loup Sarionall.
Hadrien Gérenton (b. 1987, France) creates surrealistic metal sculptures that blend mythical and prehistoric themes. His work explores the relationship between nature and anti-human habitats in an intriguing way.
Tim Mathijsen (b. 1987, Netherlands) primarily works with plaster, reinterpreting architectural elements in his sculptures. His art examines the transformation of meaning and knowledge, inviting reflection on the world around us.
Both artists are based in Amsterdam, where they completed their (post-academic) studies. Their work has been exhibited internationally and will now be showcased at the Luther Museum Amsterdam.
